Recipe Sesame – Meal Planning Failure:
I wish that I could say that I am a meal-planning guru, but sadly I am not. I have had some experience with freezer meals, but otherwise, I am more of a wing-it wonder. Out of pure necessity, I have learned to excel at creating meals from what I have on hand. Family is hungry and I don’t want to go to the store… Add in food allergies and kid’s dislikes and I have an even larger hurdle to overcome. However, quickly assessing what I have and making a meal from it can actually be kind of fun. Recipe sesame.
So you wanna hear my super secrets?
Recipe Sesame – Here’s what to do:
-
Check your cupboards – what do you have?
Do you have spaghetti sauce or tomato sauce? You might wanna try to swing your recipe to Italian
If you have an Asian style sauce you might want to check to see if you have rice and vegetables and make an Asian dish.
If you have enchilada sauce you could make some sort of enchilada bake or even an enchilada style pasta….
What meat do you have in the fridge/freezer? Does it go with the sauce you found before?
Do you have some tomatoes or an onion? How about some peppers? Bell peppers can translate to any of the dishes above. So can zucchini. Zucchini are great because they take on the flavor of whatever you make them with.
(They also make a yummy side dish – slice ’em, cover with olive oil and seasonings, bake at 350 for a bit and viola!)
Recipe Sesame – So what happens if none of this searching resulted in much?
2. Type a few ingredients that you think will go together into Pinterest and see what pops up.
The first few times I did this, I got frustrated. I obviously had not “planned” to make the recipes that I clicked on and may have some of the ingredients, but not all. If you find a recipe that you have all of the ingredients for go for that, but I can almost guarantee that unless you’re kitchen is super stocked you will not.
THAT’S OK!
The point of searching on Pinterest is just to get some inspiration. I typed in spinach chicken pasta and I saw yummy dishes with cheese on them and tomatoes in them. Without even clicking on any of the recipes, I got an idea of the kind of meal I wanted to make and went with it.
Recipe Sesame – Still Stuck?
Do you have some bread or french bread/garlic bread in the freezer – consider making a quick and easy pizza. Use spaghetti sauce, tomatoes (canned or fresh), a bit of cheese, and whatever you can dig up. Yum – Easy Pizzeee.
You can always do quesadillas easily as well – tortilla + cheese = yumm. I like mine with re-fried beans too. 🙂
Worse comes to worst, you can do noodles with butter and garlic – been there, believe me! At least this is an upgrade from college top ramen – been there too and never ever ever going back to that – that stuff is nasty for you!
You can do better, just try.
You won’t win on ever recipe. I don’t. I’ve had some that made my husband very quiet at the table, but you know, I didn’t like ’em either. It’s okay. You win some and you lose some.
Recipe Sesame – Winner Winner Chicken Dinner:
Tonight was one of those times when I hadn’t even taken any meat out to defrost, but I was okay with it. I had a little panic, but after checking out my inventory of very little food, I just went with something.
I literally made dinner tonight with these ingredients: one large chicken breast, can of spinach, crouton stuffing mix, tomatoes, garlic, noodles, and about a cup of cheese. With some seasonings too, but seriously, it was delicious!!! A nice surprise, and hey, I NEVER thought I would EVER get my kids to eat spinach!!!
Recipe Here.
I hope your cupboard creations come out well. 🙂
God Bless,
